Judy G. and Her success Story
"Met My Goal Club" Here I Come!! =)
Well, I did it!! I met my goal of 50 pounds lost by the time I turn 50. I will be 50 years old next year....wanted to give myself plenty of time!! LOL!! =) From the beginning I have been dedicated to this journey. I was going to start another program in January. Had ordered and received it and was ready through all the materials. Then I saw that Dr. Oz was starting a program called Move It & Lose It in 2011. It seemed like a great way to start, logging, exercising, having help and support through it all. And it was FREE!! So, I put the other program up and started on the MILI in January. I loved it from the very first day. It was exactly what I needed to get me going in the right direction.
Week after week, I logged my food, I exercised daily, I talked with my coaches and friends on ShareCare. I was seeing the weight slowing but surely come off week after week. There were weeks when the number was maybe only 1/2 pound loss, but it was still a loss. Then one week I even had a 5 pound loss....that was a REALLY good week!! Only one week did I have a gain (1 pound), which I have heard is very ware. Most people have a lot of ups and downs throughout this journey. I think God knew I wouldn't be happy with that and helped me NOT to have that happen!! LOL!! =)
I have learned a lot in these last 6 months that will be with me forever. I have come so far in such a short time, at least to me. I KNOW it would not be possible with out Dr. Oz, MILI, ShareCare, Coaches, and Friends. I have taken this journey MANY times before, as most of us have, but this time it's different. I did it the right way, with the right people, and for the right reason.
THANK YOU EVERYONE for taking this journey with me. I look forward to each of us joining the Met My Goal Club one at a time. See ya soon!!! =)

Gail S. and Her Success Story
This is Gail's story. She started this journey back in January 2011. Her initial goal
when starting this was to lose the weight in a healthy way and be at the weight of 130 lbs.
She reached her goal with great success, with the help of Sharecare and the OZzome family. She also
has lost 9.8 inches since January! What a great accomplishment in those 5 months!!!! Way to go
Gail, we are all so proud of you. Your running has inspired us, and your kind words and encouragement
have kept us going. Your humor has made us laugh too. It wouldn't have been the same without you.
Thanks Gail for everything you have done to make this journey a fun and successful journey.

Jumpin' Joan Her Success Story“Tools, determination and friends. Here’s to staying on track.” Jul 10, 2011 Six months ago, I made this post on sharecare when I joined the program.
Bio: “Tools, determination and friends. Here's to staying on track.” Little did I know that this simple post would predict the three key ingredients for my success in reaching my goal weight this morning! I have lost 81 pounds (57 pounds with you). I will continue with the program to lose five more pounds of “cushion” before transitioning to maintenance. What’s odd is that I thought I’d be high-fiving, jumping up and down and screaming at the top of my lungs when this big day arrived. But I didn’t. (Lucky for my still-sleeping husband). Instead, I’m feeling something else that that’s hard to describe. A bit of pride, melancholy, love and wonder. Upon reflection, I know that I have lost a lot of weight. Intellectually, I know I’m no longer obese, am sporting a healthy BMI of 23.7, and have more energy than the sun. But, I can still see that fat woman in the mirror at times. Perhaps that’s not a bad thing as long as it’s realistic and helps keep in check. I know in my heart and soul that I’ll never be fat again. I have the determination and the tools. I’m almost at the end of this journey – the road we are all moving on. It is my hope and belief that each of you will reach your goals, too. So, here’s to my sharecare community – to all of us -for doing this together. We are truly blessed as a community, and I am thankful to each of you for keeping me on track. XOXOXO - Joan |
Brian the Biker and His Success StoryHi, I'm Brian. I am in my fifties with a loving wife, two children and three grandchildren. I have been concerned about my health and weight for as long as I can remember. Growing up on a farm I ate well and did a lot of manual work which kept everything in equilibrium. At 18 years old I began a career working shiftwork at a desk job. The changed lifestyle was immediately apparent. I had to keep physically active outside work to offset the desk job. Over the years this worked well most of the time and then middle age set in. I am retired now and have extra time to keep active. In the winter months I go ice skating, hiking, snowshoeing, walking etc. In the summer I do some hiking, walking, cycling etc, but do a lot of motorcycling so there is more sitting than in the winter. Consequently my weight has cycled by the season. With a restricted diet and exercise program I lose pounds from Jan to Apr, by the end of the year have usually put them all back on. My goal this year is to get my weight down over the winter months and keep it there, not just for the summer, but perrmantely.
Update April 30th: I have reduced 28 lbs since Jan 1st. I was 172, now I'm 144. This reduction was accomplished by running a calorie deficit and being more active. My BMI has reduced from 26 to 22, my Body Fat has reduced from 22.5 to 16%. I have a small frame which tends to amplify the weight gain I had around the stomach and not so much in other areas. On Jan 1st I truly felt like CRAP... It was like I couldn't breathe properly because I was so full. Four months later I have much more energy and feel GREAT. I have lost up to 12 lbs in past years, nothing even near the 28 lbs I lost this year. I guess I was more committed this time. I am now at the same weight I was when I was married 35 years ago. I guess that's my anniversary gift to my beloved, a more healthy husband. I have started a maintenance program and with continued better food choices and adequate physical activity I am confident I WILL maintain my present weight. Update June 30th: I have completed two months of maintenance now. My weight has varied from 1.7 lbs under goalweight to 2.4 lbs over goalweight. When I have an excursion of a couple lbs I adjust my exercise and nutrition the following week to head back towards goal weight. Sounds a little paranoid but that’s how I have to do it. This summer differs from past summers in that I am making exercise more of a priority. Two or three times a week I cycle 20 km if the weather is good, or run 5 Miles on WiiFit if the weather is not good. I also have been doing squats, curls, crunches, stretches etc a couple of days a week. SO FAR SO GOOD, next stop is my 35th Wedding Anniversary Sept 18th … |
